Analysis and optimization of submersible sand pump impeller

Submersible sand pump impeller is the important part, its structure heavily affects the submersible sand pump performance. Here, we discuss the structure and characteristics of the submersible sand pump impeller, so it is useful to design and implementation of the impeller for the submersible sand pump.

Compared with the general impeller of centrifugal sand pump,the impeller design of submersible agitator sand pump adopts improved design IS water pump impeller .

Seven sets rotational speed ratio were selected for submersible sand pump impeller testing, the similar optimized conversion for all submersible sand pumps was selected when it meets the performance requirements. The key factors should be considered as following.

1.Because hydraulic loss of submersible agitator sand pump is larger than general sand pump, the impeller of submersible agitator slurry pump should be properly increase on the basis of calculation to achieve the same lift head.

2.The submersible agitator sand pump with high request for cavitational corrosion. So we make improved design for the IS water pump impeller to increase the cavitational corrosion. Some optimized parameters are as followed.

  • Increase the impeller inlet diameter.
  • Increase the blade inlet width.
  • Increase the radius of curvature for impeller inlet cover plate.
  • Increase the blade inlet angle and half of the blades extend to inlet direction etc.

3.For the low-lift impeller with the peripheral speed less than 20m/s , due to poor self-priming capacity, adopts the cutting impeller with rear cover method to expand the gas-liquid mixing capacity, shorten the self-priming time.
